Bustier Workshop

Instructor

Lynda Maynard

IV - Lines

Students will use coutil, spiral boning, and fashion fabric to create a uniquely feminine garment that flatters all figures. The bustier can be worn alone, under a jacket, or over a tee. It can be dressed up with silk, satin or velvet fabric or down with denim, tweed or suede. Bones will be applied to counteract gravity and prevent wardrobe malfunctions. Bonus information will be added with a discussion of corselets (a version of a bustier sewn into a strapless gown to support the bust). Expect 3-4 hours of homework between classes.

Prerequisite: Some sewing and pattern drafting experience.
